Dane DeHaan, who starred in "Chronicle" and has had minor roles this year in both "Lincoln" and "Lawless," has been cast as Harry Osborn in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." DeHaan will take over the role from James Franco in Sam Raimi's first three "Spider Man" films, and joins leads Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, as well as franchise newcomers Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx (who was recently confirmed to play villain Electro).
Marc Webb, who directed the first "Amazing Spider-Man," is set to direct the sequel. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci of "Star Trek" success, along with Jeff Pinker, are penning the new script, which comes from a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (who wrote the first "Amazing Spider-Man" and David Fincher's "Zodiac").

Next up for DeHaan is the Derek Cianfrance crime thriller "Place Beyond the Pines," which had first screenings at Toronto in September, the Atom Egoyan West Memphis Three narrative feature "Devil's Knot," and the thriller "Kill Your Darlings," which was recently announced as part of the competition lineup at Sundance.

Eddie Redmayne, who has earned rave response acting and singing in Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables," was at one point up for the role of Osborn. He also reportedly has been reading for Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy." Word is his next big role could be in the next Wachowskis film, Warner Bros. sci-fi actioner "Jupiter Ascending," set to star Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.
